You can get a Spotify playlist into rekordbox as a stream, but not as files. With Spotify Premium and an internet connection, rekordbox for Mac and Windows can play your Spotify playlists, and rekordbox's FAQ says you can even edit them from inside rekordbox. What you can't do is export those tracks to a USB stick for CDJs, record them, or keep them as files: rekordbox's streaming FAQ rules all of that out. So the realistic routes are three: stream the playlist in rekordbox, move it to Beatport and stream it from there, or buy the tracks and rebuild the playlist from files.

What works and what doesn't

From rekordbox's Spotify announcement and its streaming FAQ:

You want to...With Spotify in rekordbox
See and play your Spotify playlistsYes, with Premium and an internet connection
Edit a Spotify playlist from rekordboxYes
Use Spotify in EXPORT modeNo
Export tracks to USB or SD for CDJsNo
Record your mixNo
Use stems (track separation)No
Analyze Track from the menuNo; remove the track and reload it to reanalyze
Play on your phone at the same timeNo; starting Spotify on another device stops rekordbox playback

Spotify's newsroom announced the integration for rekordbox, Serato and djay on 24 September 2025, in 51 markets, and later updates to the post added mobile apps and more DJ software. rekordbox's own page lists the countries where it's available and notes that availability is subject to change.

Route 1: stream the playlist in rekordbox

This is the quickest route, and it's good for practice, home sessions and trying out a playlist's flow.

  1. Sign in to Spotify from rekordbox with a Premium account.
  2. Open Spotify in rekordbox's Media Browser, find your playlist and load tracks to the decks.
  3. Let rekordbox analyze each track as you load it. The FAQ notes that Analyze Track isn't available for Spotify; to reanalyze, remove the track from the Collection and load it again from Spotify.

Keep the limits in mind. You need a connection the whole time, you can't record, and a family member starting Spotify on the same account will stop your playback. For public gigs, read Spotify's terms; streaming subscriptions are generally licensed for personal use. Can you DJ with Spotify or Apple Music? covers this in more detail.

Route 2: move it to Beatport and stream from there

If your playlist is mostly electronic music, a Beatport copy of it can suit a rekordbox setup better. Beatport's support center says it has partnerships with Soundiiz and TuneMyMusic to help transfer playlists from other streaming services into the Beatport DJ App.

Why this can help in rekordbox:

  • EXPORT mode. rekordbox's FAQ lists Beatport Streaming among the services available in EXPORT mode. Spotify isn't.
  • Offline playback. The same FAQ lists no offline restrictions for Beatport Streaming. Beatport's plans page, as of October 2026, lists 1,000-track offline storage on its Professional plan ($29.99 a month in the US).

What doesn't change: streaming tracks still can't be exported to USB, and Beatport's terms say public performance needs additional licensing not included in the subscription. Check every track after the transfer, because matches between catalogues can land on the wrong version. How to move a Spotify playlist to Beatport goes through the checking step.

Route 3: buy the tracks and rebuild the playlist

For club gigs on CDJs from USB, this is the route that works. It's slower, but you end up with files you own.

  1. Cut the playlist first. Spotify playlists collect tracks you liked as a listener. Decide which ones you'd actually play, and drop the rest before you spend anything.
  2. Find each keeper in a store. Search by artist and title, and pick the right version: extended, original or a specific remix.
  3. Buy in one batch and download the files into your usual new-music folder.
  4. Import into rekordbox and let it analyze them.
  5. Recreate the playlist. rekordbox's manual describes creating a playlist and adding tracks to it. Keep the Spotify playlist open for reference while you order the tracks.
  6. Prepare and export. Set cues, check grids and export to USB as usual.

Why not export the Spotify playlist as an M3U and import that? rekordbox's manual says it imports M3U, M3U8 and PLS playlist files, but those files list music files on your drive. Until you own the tracks, there's nothing for the playlist to point at.

Check a streamed playlist before you rely on it

If you take Route 1 or 2, a few details in rekordbox's streaming FAQ are worth knowing before a session rather than during it:

  • Some tracks won't appear. The FAQ says rights holders restrict third-party use of certain tracks on streaming services, and those tracks don't show up in rekordbox. Open the playlist in rekordbox, not only in the Spotify app, and check what's actually there.
  • Audio quality is a setting. For Spotify, the FAQ lists Ogg at 320 kbps as the default and 96 kbps as the low option, set under Preferences, Advanced, Others.
  • Changing quality can shift your cues. The same FAQ warns that beat grids and cue points may move when the streaming audio quality setting changes, so pick one and leave it.
  • Tags stay as they are. Track information can't be edited for streaming tracks, and rekordbox's backup function doesn't back up streaming music files.
  • Mixing with your own files works. rekordbox's Spotify announcement says you can mix Spotify tracks with tracks from your rekordbox library, so a playlist that's half bought and half streamed is fine for practice while you buy the rest.

Which route to choose

  • Home practice or a quick test of a playlist's flow: Route 1.
  • Mostly electronic music, and you already use or want Beatport Streaming: Route 2.
  • Club gigs from USB, or you want files you keep: Route 3.

You can also combine them: stream to test, then buy the tracks that survive. The pillar guide on how to find and buy the tracks from a DJ set uses the same listen-then-buy approach for tracklists, and organizing new music before it hits your DJ library covers where new files go once bought.

Doing this with CatchIt!

CatchIt! is a Mac app with a free iOS companion that fits Route 3's first steps. It isn't a rekordbox plugin and doesn't move anything into rekordbox.

  • Import the playlist. With Spotify connected, paste a Spotify playlist URL into the Mac app to import up to 500 tracks for review. Apple Music playlists work too.
  • Cut it down. Listen and press Return to keep a track or Space to reject it.
  • Find each track. Kept tracks get search links for Beatport, Bandcamp, YouTube and Google, plus a copy button for a clean "Title Artist" line.
  • Track your buying. Mark tracks Done once bought, and export the list as TXT or CSV if you want a record next to your rekordbox playlist.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import a Spotify playlist into rekordbox?
You can access it. With Spotify Premium and an internet connection, rekordbox for Mac and Windows shows your Spotify playlists, and rekordbox's FAQ says Spotify playlists can be edited from rekordbox. What you can't do is turn those streams into files in your rekordbox collection.
Can I put a Spotify playlist on a USB stick for CDJs?
No. rekordbox's streaming FAQ says Spotify isn't available in EXPORT mode and that streaming tracks can't be exported to a USB storage device or SD card. For a USB setup, buy the tracks as files and rebuild the playlist.
Can I move a Spotify playlist to Beatport?
Beatport's support center says it has partnerships with Soundiiz and TuneMyMusic for transferring playlists from other streaming services into the Beatport DJ App. Check each track afterwards, because matching between catalogues isn't perfect.
Why won't rekordbox import my Spotify playlist as an M3U file?
rekordbox can import M3U, M3U8 and PLS playlist files, but those files point to music files on your computer. A Spotify playlist has no local files behind it, so there's nothing for rekordbox to load until you own the tracks.
