Glossary
Every term in the manual, defined in one place. Capture, research, match, classification, Done, tracklist, sync.
- Capture / Discovery — adding a track to your CatchIt! library from any source: a Shazam, a paste, a share, a tracklist row, a playlist import, a recording.
- Shazam — Apple's audio-recognition technology. CatchIt! uses it on-device for live captures and for batch-recognizing recordings and online sets.
- Mobile Shazams — the Inbox sidebar section holding all your single-track captures.
- Tracklist — a batch capture from a single source: a Spotify / Apple Music playlist, a 1001tracklists, TrackID.net, set79 or Djooni page, a SoundCloud set, an audio recording, or a TXT / CSV file.
- Chart — a Beatport chart you follow. Lives under CHARTS in the Inbox sidebar; ↻ Refresh picks up new entries and marks the ones that left the chart. Refresh is always manual.
- Research — looking a captured track up against a streaming service's catalog to attach a playable handle. Always user-triggered, bulk by default.
- Match — the per-platform outcome of Research: found on Apple Music, on Spotify, on both, or on neither. Shown as pills on each row.
- Cascade — the sequence of search strategies CatchIt! runs to find a track on a streaming service.
- Apple Foundation Models LLM — on-device Apple-Intelligence-powered model (macOS 26+) that helps parse messy CSV imports.
- Classification — turning a track green (Enter) or red (Space) on the Mac, or with GREEN / RED in the iPhone's Tracklists tab. Doesn't apply until you do it.
- Walking Mode — the full-screen gesture pad in the iPhone's Tracklists tab: swipe up for green, down for red, tap the left or right half to jump 15 seconds, hold to play / pause. See Cross-platform & sync.
- Needs Research — Inbox preset: captures with no streaming-service lookup yet.
- Needs Decision — Inbox preset: captures that are researched and playable but still unclassified.
- Inbox — everything unclassified, in one surface. Lives on macOS; not visible on iOS.
- Wishlist (The Greens) — your classified-green tracks. The buy-prep workflow.
- Done — separate flag on a green track that marks "I've already bought this." Doesn't change the green/red classification.
- Previously classified / Elsewhere — dedupe signal that the same track (same platform ID) was already classified in another source; shown as history chips and filterable in both the Inbox and the Wishlist.
- Smart-copy — clipboard copy of "title artist" cleaned for store search.
- Save to Playlist — push greens to a streaming playlist (Apple Music today; Spotify pending quota approval).
- Failed upload — a change that couldn't reach the cloud. It stays saved on your Mac; Settings → Sync shows the count and a Retry Failed button.
- Sync — the real-time engine that keeps macOS, iOS, and the cloud holding one identical library. Offline changes queue and flush on reconnect.
